A Private Media Space Built Just for Your Closest Friends & Family

I care deeply about the impact of social media on society. After speaking with many social media users, conducting hundreds of surveys and experimenting with fake door tests, I uncovered some data-backed key insights: The older generations struggled most with connecting with their younger family members, while the younger generations struggled most with the vanity pressures of posting.

I developed Airloom as a passion project to create a platform that addresses these two issues with one solution: a private social media platform dedicated to close friends and family. Unlike the legacy social media platforms, this one optimizes for personal connection, rather than commerce and entertainment.

  • It can be very difficult distinguishing between what social media users want versus what they are willing to switch for. I chose a very agile strategy to developing Airloom in which I test with small batches and use the feedback to inform the next direction the platform will take.

  • Over the course of testing and iterating through features, I have created a design pallet that is consistent throughout the app and offers an intuitive and enjoyable experience.

  • My software development skills have been sharped through the course of Airloom’s development, giving me a profound and versatile understanding of the software development process, both front and back-end.

  • The combination of speaking with social media users, conducting hundreds of surveys, experimenting with fake door tests and researching social media trends allowed me to identify the major pain points of modern social media users.
